Privacy Policy
Effective August 18, 2026
This policy explains how Mimzie, Inc. ("Mimzie," "we," "us") handles personal information when you use mimzie.com and the Mimzie academic workspace (the "Service").
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, authentication identifiers, and account preferences.
- Workspace content: folders, documents, chats, prompts, revisions, sources, citations, feedback, and PDFs or other files you upload.
- Billing information: your plan, subscription status, invoices, and payment history. Stripe processes payment card details; Mimzie does not store full card numbers.
- Usage and device information: features used, AI and research usage, token and cost totals, IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, and campaign information.
- Diagnostics and support: error reports, performance data, session information, and messages you send us.
How we use information
We use this information to:
- provide, sync, search, edit, and export your workspace;
- run the writing, research, citation, and file-reading features you request;
- authenticate accounts, process subscriptions, and enforce plan limits;
- keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures;
- understand and improve reliability and product use; and
- respond to support requests and meet legal obligations.
AI and research processing
When you use an AI feature, Mimzie sends the information needed for that request through OpenRouter to one or more model providers. This may include your prompt, chat history, relevant document text, selected sources, and the contents of an uploaded PDF when you ask Mimzie to read it. Model providers may change as we improve the Service.
OpenRouter and each model provider have their own retention and training practices. Mimzie does not use your workspace content to train its own AI models, but we cannot promise that every third-party provider handles data the same way. Do not put sensitive information in prompts, documents, or files unless you are comfortable with this processing.
Research features may send search terms to public web and academic data services and return content or links from third-party sources.
Sensitive information
Mimzie is not designed for protected health information, government identification numbers, financial account credentials, or confidential third-party information you are not authorized to share. The Service is not HIPAA compliant. Please do not submit this information.
When we share information
We share information only as needed:
- with service providers that host the app, store data, authenticate users, process payments, provide AI or research results, deliver analytics, or monitor errors;
- when you direct us to share or export content;
- to comply with law, protect people, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights; or
- as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Our main service providers include Convex, WorkOS, Stripe, OpenRouter and its model providers, PostHog, Sentry, and Vercel. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Analytics, cookies, and local storage
We use cookies and browser storage for authentication, preferences, and app state. When enabled, we use PostHog for product analytics and session replay, and Sentry for error and performance monitoring. Session recording is configured to mask inputs and content marked as private. These tools may receive account identifiers, device information, page activity, and diagnostics.
You can limit cookies through your browser, but blocking essential storage may prevent the Service from working.
Retention and deletion
We keep account information and workspace content while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, maintain security, and meet legal or financial obligations. Retention can also depend on backup schedules and a provider's own policy.
You can delete supported content in the Service. To request account deletion or a copy of your information, email info@mimzie.com. We may retain limited records when the law requires it or when needed to prevent fraud and enforce our agreements.
Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a denied request and to receive equal service when exercising a privacy right.
Send a request to info@mimzie.com. We may need to verify your identity or authority before completing it. You can unsubscribe from non-service emails using the link in the message.
Children
Mimzie is not directed to children under 13, and they may not use the Service. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Users who are minors where they live need permission from a parent or guardian.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Mimzie is based in the United States. We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
Changes
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will post the new effective date here and give additional notice when required by law.
